“Dear John” is the first book of
Nicholas Sparks which I’ve read recently. And after that I can say: Nicholas
Sparks is certainly my favorite author and “Dear John” is my favorite love
story now. The book is easy-writing and has an amazing plot. When I started
reading it I was fully absorbed with the story. I think there is no use in
retelling this story (I suggest, everyone can find it in Wikipedia) so I would
like just to tell you a few words about my personal experience of the book.
The
narrator of the story was John, who joined the army. He fell in love with a
girl, Savannah, shortly before 9/11. Their love story was touched my feelings
so much, that I was crying almost on every paper. And, of course, I couldn’t
expect that the love story of this young couple would end so tragic. So, the
title of the book was taken from the first words of Savannah’s letter, when
she wanted to break relations with John.
This
book taught me a very simple thing: “Love is not only happiness, beautiful
wedding, smiles, kisses and so on. First of all, Love is a self-sacrifice feeling and if you truly love somebody,
you’ll do your best for her, even if you have to leave her with another man.” A
lot of people may say: “What nonsense!”
However, after having read this book I can say: “I trust these words. I trust
the story of the book. I trust Nicholas Sparks”.
What is more, “Dear
John” is the fifth of Nicholas Sparks' books to be turned into a movie.
